Associate Professor at the University of Florence since 2024 and, previously, at the University of Bologna from 2019 to 2024, he carries out his research in the field of both terrestrial and satellite wireless communications. His research interests are focused in particular on Edge and Fog Computing systems, intelligence and distributed computing techniques, optimization techniques, and the study of heterogeneous networks, with particular attention to Smart City scenarios, the scenario with integrated Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks, Intelligent Transportation System scenarios and multimedia services. Engaged in national and international research projects, he collaborates with several European research institutes. He is the author of 69 articles, 70 of which published in international journals (source: Scopus). He is a member of the Editorial Board of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IET Communications and IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society. He was symposium co-chair at IEEE WCNC 2011, at IEEE Globecom 2014, at IEEE Globecom 2018 and at IEEE ICC 2020, and workshop co-chair at IEEE ICC 2015. He has been an IEEE Senior Member since February 2012.
