Divya Garikapati is a Senior Systems Engineer with Woven by Toyota North America currently, which was merged from the previous Toyota Research Institute (TRI). Her current role focuses on the Research and Development (R&D) of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs). Divya’s current interests are in the field of Systems and Safety Engineering for AVs. She previously worked as a Controls Engineer with Cummins and Daimler. She received her Masters degree in Electrical Engineering: Systems from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a concentration in Embedded Controls.
Divya has been an active contributor to the Standards Development activities within IEEE, SAE and ISO committees upon her interest towards ensuring safety and compliance for AV related technologies. She is the working group chair for the “IEEE P3472 - Standard for Developing Parallel Autonomy Systems in Passenger Vehicles”, also a member of the SAE Ground Vehicle AI standards committee and many other standards discussion groups such as IEEE P2851.1, SAE J3237 and the IEEE P3332.
Divya has reviewed more than 70 research papers as part of various Journals and conferences, contributing to the research publishing activities. She also contributes to The Autonomous, SAE and Automotive IQ towards writing industry reports on various topics related to the AV industry. She has published multiple papers and patents contributing to the on-going research topics at Toyota.
Her research interests include Autonomous vehicles, Controls Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Verification and Validation, Simulation, Generative AI, Systems and Safety Engineering and Human Machine Interaction.
