Guest Speaker: Dr. Mubashir Husain Rehmani

Bio:
Mubashir Husain Rehmani worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Telecommunications Software and Systems Group (TSSG), Waterford Institute of Technology, Ireland from Sep 2017 to Oct 2018. Prior to this, he worked as an Assistant Professor for five years in the Department of Electrical Engineering, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Wah Cantt., Pakistan. He received the Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Dr. Aline Carneiro Viana and Prof. Serge Fdida from LIP6, Université of Pierre et Marie Curie (Sorbonne Universités), Paris, France in 2011, the M.S. degree in Networks and Telecommunications from L2S, Laboratory of Signals and Systems, Supelec and University of Paris Sud-11, in 2008, and the B.Eng. degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan, in 2004. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the LIGM, Université Paris Est, Marne La Vallée, France, in 2012. In May 2013, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Government of Pakistan selected him as an HEC Approved Supervisor.

He is currently an Editor of IEEE COMMUNICATIONS SURVEYS AND TUTORIALS and the Associate Editor of the IEEE COMMUNICATIONS MAGAZINE, IEEE Access Journal, Elsevier’s Computers and Electrical Engineering (CAEE) journal, Elsevier Journal of Network and Computer Applications (JNCA), Ad Hoc Sensor Wireless Networks (AHSWN) Journal, Springer Wireless Networks Journal, and the Journal of Communications and Networks (JCN). He is also serving as a Guest Editor of IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INDUSTRIAL INFORMATICS, Elsevier Ad Hoc Networks Journal, Elsevier Future Generation Computer Systems Journal, IEEE Access Journal, Elsevier Pervasive and Mobile Computing journal and Elsevier Computers and Electrical Engineering journal. Dr. Rehmani served in the TPC for IEEE VTC Spring 2016, IEEE ICC 2015, IEEEWoWMoM 2014, IEEE ICC 2014, ACM CoNEXT Student Workshop 2013, IEEE ICC 2013, and IEEE IWCMC 2013 conferences. He is elevated in 2016 to the grade of Senior Member of IEEE and IEEE Communications Society.

Dr. Rehmani is an author/editor of the following books:

  • Transportation and Power Grid in Smart Cities: Communication Networks and Services (published by John Wiley, UK, 2017)
  • Emerging Communication Technologies based on Wireless Sensor Networks: Current Research and Future Applications (CRC Press, Taylor and Francis Group, USA, 2015)
  • Cognitive Radio Sensor Networks: Applications, Architectures, and Challenges (IGI Global USA, 2014)

He has published 100 journal papers (total impact factor of 597.98), 17 book chapters and over 14 international conference papers. He is the founding member of IEEE Special Interest Group (SIG) on Green and Sustainable Networking and Computing with Cognition and Cooperation.

He has received the MS Leading to PhD scholarship from Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. He received Best Researcher of the Year of COMSATS Wah Award in 2015. He received the CIIT's Research Productivity Award in 2014. He received the Appreciation Letter from Director CIIT, in 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2013 for his dedicated services to the CIIT. His main research interests include cognitive radio ad hoc networks, smart grid, cognitive radio based smart grid, wireless energy transfer, flying ad-hoc networks, wireless sensor networks, and mobile ad hoc networks.
