Dr. Tomohiko Taniguchi received his B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Tokyo, in 1982, and joined Fujitsu Laboratories Limited (received his Ph.D. from the same university in 2006).
From 1987 to 1988, he was a visiting scholar at Stanford University; from 1996 to 2000, he was with Fujitsu Laboratories of America, Sunnyvale, CA, USA.
Throughout his 40 years career at Fujitsu, he had been active in the field of signal processing and was recognized for his inventions in signal processing (holds essential patents for international standards, such as ITU-T, MPEG, and 3GPP).
He is a recipient of several awards for his papers, patents, and contributions to the society (incl. Outstanding Service Award, 2006/2010, Industrial Distinguished Leader Award, 2014).
After his retirement in 2022, he joined Animo Limited (venture company founded by Fujitsu) as an Executive Fellow, and is providing technical/strategical advices to the chairman.
As an industry expert, he has provided lectures as a guest professor, at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (2013-2018), Duy Tan University (2014-), and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (2016-, also as an advisory).
He had been on the ComSoc standing committee for Emerging Technologies (2015-2017), Fellow Evaluations (2016-2018), Nominations & Elections (2017-2019), and currently on the VTS Fellow Evaluations committee (2022-).
Dr. Taniguchi is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of IEICE, and an academician of the Engineering Academy of Japan.
