Samy El-Tawab, Ph. D., is a Professor and the Information Technology Program Director in the Department of Computer Science at James Madison University. He has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University, Virginia, and extensive research interests in areas such as Intelligent Transportation, Computer Networks, and Computer Science. Dr. El-Tawab has been involved in various research projects and has received multiple grants and funding for his work.

Dr. El-Tawab's academic journey began at Alexandria University, Egypt, where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science specializing in Computer Networks. Throughout his academic career, Dr. El-Tawab has served James Madison University with distinction, having progressed from an Assistant Professor to his current position as a Professor in the College of Integrated Science and Engineering. His innovative approach to teaching and dedication to academic excellence has been reflected in the diverse courses he has taught, ranging from Introduction to Programming and Data Science to Networking and Cyber Security and Intelligent Transportation, among others.

Furthermore, Dr. El-Tawab has contributed significantly as a reviewer, editor, and associate editor for esteemed scholarly journals and conferences, showcasing his commitment to advancing knowledge within the field. He is also an active member of several professional organizations. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the field, such as the 2020 Madison Scholar from the College of Integrated Science and Engineering, the 2018 Virginia Governor's Technology Award (Innovative Use of Technology in Education), and the 2017 Outstanding Junior Faculty at The College of Integrated Science & Engineering.
