Lin Cai has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Victoria since 2005, where she is currently a Professor. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Engineering Institute of Canada, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and the IEEE, and a recipient of the NSERC E.W.R. Steacie Memorial Fellowship. Her research interests span several areas in communications and networking, with a focus on network protocols and architecture design to support ubiquitous intelligence. She has been elected to the Board of Governors of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (2019–2027) and is currently serving as its Vice President for Mobile Radio (2023–2025). She is also a Board Member of IEEE Women in Engineering (2022–2024) and the IEEE Communications Society (2024–2026). In addition, she has served as an Associate Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.
