Ping Zhang, IEEE Fellow, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is currently a Professor with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. He serves as the director of State Key Laboratory of Networking and Switching Technology, the director of Department of Broadband Communication of Peng Cheng Laboratory, the director of ZGC Institute of Ubiquitous-X Innovation and Applications (X-NET), and honorary president of China Telecom Research Institute. He is a member of IMT-2020 (5G) Experts Panel and China’s 6G development Experts Panel. Prof. Zhang has made remarkable contributions to the development of China-pioneered mobile communication technologies. He served as Chief Scientist of National Basic Research Program (973 Program), an expert in Information Technology Division of National High-tech R&D program (863 Program), and a member of Consultant Committee on International Cooperation of National Natural Science Foundation of China. Prof. Zhang received the Grand Prize for the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of National Technology Invention Award (three times), and the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award (two times). He was honored the medalist of National Innovation Pioneer Award, the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Science and Technology Progress. His research interests include next-generation mobile networks, semantic communications, and intellicise communication system.
