Shanzhi Chen (Fellow, IEEE) received the bachelor’s degree from Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree from the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China, in 1997. He joined the Datang Telecom Technology and Industry Group and the China Academy of Telecommunication Technology (CATT) in 1994, and served as the CTO and EVP of R&D from 2008 to 2016. Now, Dr. CHEN is the EVP R&D and CTO of China Information and Communication Technology Group Co., Ltd. (CICT), the director of State Key Laboratory of Wireless Mobile Communications, and the board director of SMIC. He has contributed to the design, standardization, and development of 4G TD-LTE, 5G, and Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) communication systems. His current research interests include B5G/6G, C-V2X, and integrated terrestrial-satellite communication system. He has authored and coauthored 6 books, 17 book chapters, more than 60 journal/Magazine papers, and over 80 patents in the above areas. Dr. Chen received multiple top awards and honors by China central government, especially the Grand Prize of the National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress, China, in 2016 (the Highest Prize in China). He is Editor-in-chief of TELECOMMUNICATIONS SCIENCE, the Area Editor of the IEEE INTERNET OF THINGS JOURNAL and an Editor of IEEE NETWORK. He served as a member and a TPC chair of many international conferences.
