Tadashi Matsumoto is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Oulu (UOulu) and Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. He is currently serving as an invited professor at IMT-Atlantique in Nantes, France. Research topics have included Chained Turbo Equalizations for Block Transmission without Guard Interval and Its Application on 4G Uplink SC-FDMA; Iterative Spatial Demapper for Future Relaying System; Iterative Processing for Cooperative Communications Allowing Intra-Link Errors; Paradigm Shift in Turbo Processing: P2P to Networks; and Recent Results in Advanced Wireless Cooperative Communications.
Previous honors and awards include: the Tokyo Denki University Niwa-Yasujiro Memorial Best Paper Award (2018, 2019), IEEE TCOM Exemplary Reviewer Award (2017), IEEE VTS Recognition for Outstanding Distinguished Lecturer (2016), Nikkei Electronics Japan Wireless Technology Award (2013), IEEE Indonesian Section - Certificate of Appreciation for the Recognition of Contribution in Development of Signal Processing for Wireless Communication in Indonesia (2012), Royal Academy of Engineering Distinguished Visiting Fellowship (2012), and the 2011 IEEE Communications Society Exemplary Reviewer Award.
