Bingli Jiao (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Peking University, Beijing, China, in 1983 and 1988, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Saarland University, Germany, in 1995. He became an Associate Professor in 1995 and a Professor with Peking University in 2000. He is also the Director of the Joint Laboratory for Advanced Communication Research between Peking University and Princeton University, and the Director of Engineering Research Center of Mobile Digital Hospital System.
He is currently working in the fields of m-healthcare and wireless communication.
In the research of m-healthcare, he developed a wireless ECG system which has been authorized to provide commercial service (no.2011081102). Now, he is leading a national team working on m-heal care of “Important National Science & Technology Specific Projects”. His team includes 5 Chinese top hospitals, Chinese institute of Standard and an MII institute.
In the research of wireless, he works, primarily, on the problems of physical layer. The research work includes wireless access techniques, e.g. CDMA and OFDMA, and adaptive filter and MIMO. He had been in charge, as the director, of the contracted projects with the national key projects, e.g., the national project with MII, 863, NSF, and of the international collaboration projects as well, e.g. with SKT, LG, ETRI in Korea, Fujitsu R&D Center, Japan. In the period from 1999 to 2000, Prof. JIAO led a team to develop, successfully, testbed of TDD-WCDMA. In 2004, he invented CS-CDMA technique which was published in IEEE trans. on Comm. This technique was, later, extended to the HMA system which combined CDMA and OFDM in one carrier. He is a pioneer of co-frequency and co-time full-duplex technology. He invented the same frequency same time slot duplex in his early patent in 2006. This invention has generated large funds in Chinese wireless communication researches. He won the first prize in the 2020 Science and Technology Award of China Institute of Communications (technical invention category).
