Helka-Liina Määttänen is a master researcher at Ericsson Research, Finland. She has been contributing to the 3GPP standardization over 10 years. In recent years she has published in the area of satellites and UAVs and she is a recipient of the 2022 Scott Helt Award (Best Paper of the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting) and the IEEE Communications Society Fred W. Ellersick Prize 2021. Helka-Liina is a coauthor of the book “UAV Communications for 5G and Beyond”, Wiley, published in December 2020 and “5G New Radio: A Beam-based Air Interface” Wiley, April 2020. She holds a Ph.D. degree in communications engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology, Finland.
