Zhanyu Ma is a Full Professor of Pattern Recognition and Intelligent System Lab, School of Artificial Intelligence, at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT). He received his Ph.D. degree from KTH-Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden in 2011, and his M. Eng degree in signal and information processing and his B. Eng. degree in Automation in 2007 and 2004, from BUPT, respectively. Dr. Ma’s research interests include pattern recognition and machine learning fundamentals with the applications in non-Gaussian statistical models, big data modeling and analysis, multimedia signal processing, biomedical signal processing and bioinformatics. He is the PI of several research fundings, including NSFC, BNSF, Ministry of Education, China. He has published over 100 papers in refereed international journals and conference proceedings, including IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TNNLS, IEEE Network, IEEE TVT, IEEE/ACM TASLP, PR, CVPR, ICASSP, etc. His publication has received more than 3100 citations on Google Scholar. His work has been cited by top magazine/journals, including Science. Dr. Ma serves as an associate editor of IEEE Trans. on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Trans. on Vehicular Technology, NEUROCOMPUTING (Elsevier). Also, Dr. Ma serves as a program chair of IEEE MLSP 2018 in Aalborg, a Best Student Paper Award Committee member and a Session Chair of MLSP 2019 in Pittsburgh. He is now an Associate Member of MLSP TC and an ICASSP Area Chair. He is also active in many conferences, e.g., IEEE CVPR AC (area chair), AAAI AC, WACV AC, IEEE ICPR AC. He is a senior member of IEEE and a deputy secretary in general of China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG). He received several awards, including, 1.
