Västtrafik ordered 40 new trams for use in Gothenburg, Sweden. The new Flexity, known as the M34, is an extended version of the M33 tram currently in service.

Alstom is manufacturing the M34 with its partner Kiepe-Electric, which provides the trams’ electrical parts while Alstom supplies the mechanical equipment. The new Flexity can accommodate 319 passengers, which is 50% more than the M33.

The additional trams will meet Gothenburg’s need for new ones, as the M33 and M34 models will replace the aging M28 and M29 models.
