The IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology is dedicated to vehicular technology. This scholarly journal consists of high-quality technical manuscripts on advances in the state-of-the-art of vehicular technology in the areas of: wireless communications and systems (the use of mobile radios on land, sea, and air), vehicular electronics (the use of electronic or electrical components and systems for control, propulsion, or auxiliary functions), and transportation systems (the use of electronic technology for the control of ground transportation systems). In 2015, we have launched a new series, Connected Vehicles Series, to nurture this emerging technology.
Due to the tremendous growth in the number of submissions, starting in 2015, the Transactions has been published monthly, with special issues/sections, averaging over 400 pages per issue. According to data from the Journal Citation Reports, the TVT ranks among the top journals in the field of electrical and electronics engineering, particularly in telecommunications. This is due to our authors who have contributed their high-quality papers to this journal, our reviewers who have evaluated the papers with high efficiency, and our editorial team consisting of highly dedicated volunteers who handle the papers timely and efficiently. Both theoretical contributions (including new techniques, concepts, and analyses) and practical contributions (including system experiments, prototypes, and new applications) are encouraged. There are two categories of papers: Regular Papers for major technical contributions of archival value; and Correspondence for new enhancement of previously published work, statements of open problems, comments on published papers, and corrections.
Important Announcements
- Due to a shift in focus, IEEE TVT will no longer accept surveys or tutorial papers. Any submissions that fit under those categories will be rejected before being sent to review, without exception.
- So that the distribution in our editorial board better matches the distribution of the Vehicular Technology Society members, we are currently making adjustments by reducing the number of editors from Region 10 and recruiting more editors from Regions 1 to 6. Diversity and female editors are also extremely important for our journal. Please let the Editor-in-Chief or one of the Area Editors know if you have any recommendations.
- Starting from April 1st, 2020, Area Editors are allowed to reject submissions before they are passed to review if the submissions are judged to be clearly and relevantly below the standard of quality expected of this journal. Additionally, editors should be also more strict by rejecting out-of-scope submissions and turning down papers that have a disproportionate focus on areas that are not the main target of the journal. For example, the areas of artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, antennas, communication theory, game theory, information theory, magnetism, mechanical design, security, control theory and sensor networks (including underwater sensor networks). If a paper in these areas is not specifically related to vehicular technology applications, then it is considered out of scope. These direct rejection decisions should be made after discussing with other members of the editorial board to guarantee that rejections are as informed as possible. This measure is put in place due to the large number of submissions received by our journal. Thus, in order to expedite the review process and provide timely decisions to authors, we now allow Area Editors to decide on some submissions before the review process begins.
- Starting from January 20th, 2020, all initial submissions must respect the following page thresholds: 14 pages for regular papers and 5 pages for correspondence papers. Additionally, final submissions and revised submissions may have up to 16 pages for regular papers and 6 pages for correspondence papers. Please note that both references and biographies are included into these limits. Submissions that do not comply with these regulations will be sent back to the authors for resubmission.
- Submissions must follow the IEEE provided templates which can be found here with a sample LaTeX file. You can modify style files from IEEE website. Please note that all revised papers must follow this guideline as well!
- IEEE mandated that an author has to have a valid ORCID number when submitting papers via Manuscript Central. You can get this number by registering at http://orcid.org/
- Overlength page charge is mandatory. For all papers submitted in 2020 or later, authors have to pay US$220 for each additional page after 10 pages in case of regular papers and US$220 for each additional page after 5 pages in case of correspondence papers. For papers submitted before 2020, authors have to pay US$220 for each additional page after 8 pages in case of regular papers and US$220 for each additional page after 5 pages in case of correspondence papers. IEEE standardized typeset pages will be considered in the calculation. Thus, authors are strongly encouraged to take this into consideration during the revision process.
- Since we have the Connected Vehicle Series, regular submissions belonging to this theme may be transferred to CVS with the submission ID change. So please do specify CVS during your submission process if your paper belongs to the area of CVS.
- As an important notice, since April 2013, we have adopted the new naming for the editorial staff: "editor" is now "editor-in-chief" and "associate editor" is now "editor", which is consistent with other IEEE Transactions.
