Arafat Al-Dweik received the M.S. (Summa Cum Laude) and Ph.D. (Magna Cum Laude) degrees in electrical engineering from Cleveland State University, Cleveland, OH, USA in 1998 and 2001, respectively. He has more than 20 years of industrial and academic experience where he worked at Efficient Channel Coding, Inc. (acquired by ViaSat), Cleveland-Ohio, Chair of the Information Technology Department at the Arab American University, Palestine, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Khalifa University, United Arab Emirates, and the University of Guelph, ON, Canada.
Prof Al-Dweik held several visiting and fellowship positions at several reputable institutions, which includes a Visiting Research Fellow at Newcastle University in the UK, a Research Professor and member of the School of Graduate Studies at Western University, ON, Canada, Visiting Research Professor at the University of Manchester, Manchester, UK. He also has extensive editorial experience where he served as an Editor with the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and IET Communications. Moreover, he was an organizing committee and TPC member in several major conferences such as IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE ICC, IEEE PIMRC, and IEEE WCNC.
Dr Al-Dweik has extensive teaching and research experience in various areas of wireless communications and Intelligent Transportation Systems. He published more than 170 articles in highly prestigious international journals and conference proceedings and raised over 4M USD of research funds. He also has 10 issued patents with the USPO. During his career, he supervised 26 MSc and PhD students, and 15 Research Associate and Post-Doctoral Fellows.
Dr. Al-Dweik received several research awards, including the Leader-Founder Award, UAE November 2019. Best Academic Research Award, Dubai Award for Sustainable Transportation, February 2017, Fulbright scholarship, USA 1996, Hijjawi Award for Applied Sciences, Jordan 2004, and received the best paper award in several conferences. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, and a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, Canada.
