Gianluigi Ferrari (http://www.tlc.unipr.it/ferrari) received his Laurea and PhD degrees from the University of Parma, Italy, in 1998 and 2002, respectively. Since 2002, he has been a faculty member at the University of Parma, where he is currently Full Professor of Telecommunications. He has been Visiting Researcher at USC (Los Angeles, CA, USA, 2000-2001), CMU (Pittsburgh, PA, USA, 2002-2004), KMITL (Bankok, Thailand, 2007), ULB (Brussels, Belgium, 2010) and NCTU (Hsinchu, Taiwan, 2018,2019). Since 2006, he has been coordinator of the Internet of Things (IoT) Lab (http://iotlab.unipr.it/) in the Department of Engineering and Architecture. He has been/is: Technical Team Member in the NATO Research Task Group HFM-260 "Enhancing Warfighter Effectiveness with Wearable Bio Sensors and Physiologicol Models" (2015-2018); vice-Director (2020-2024) and Director (2024-2025) of the Future Technology Lab of the University of Parma; member of the Scientific Council of INSIDE IA (https://www.inside-association.eu/) (2019-); member of the Board of the Scientific Council of CNIT (https://www.cnit.it/) (2020-); Head of the Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications. As of December 2025, Prof. Ferrari has published over 330 papers in leading international journals and conferences, 41 book chapters and 19 patents. He is co-author of 13 books, including "Internet of Things: Architectures, Protocols and Standards" (Wiley: 2018). His research interests are in complex networked communication systems, with interest in both signal processing and networked communication aspects. He participates in numerous research projects funded by public and private entities, both national and international, and the recovered research funds are over 6 MEuros. Prof. Ferrari has received best paper/technical awards at various international conferences. He is currently a member of the editorial boards of several international journals. He is a senior member of the IEEE.
