Prakash Chaki received his master's degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, India, and the Ph.D. degree in information and communication engineering from The University of Tokyo, Japan. Since 2013, he has been with the R&D division of NEC Corporation, Japan where he is currently a Senior Researcher at the Advanced Network Research Laboratories working in Beyond 5G (B5G) and 6G wireless communications. Dr. Chaki was a recipient of the NEC Young Researcher Award 2019, the NEC Patent Award for contribution in terms of large number of issued patents in 2021, the IEICE Young Researcher Award 2016, and a two-time recipient of the NEC Excellence in Invention Award in 2015 and 2018. He was certified for Notable Services and Contributions towards the advancement of IEEE and the Engineering Professions in 2023. Dr. Chaki has served as a 3GPP RAN1 delegate for the standardization of 5G new radio (NR), and has also served in various capacities in IEEE including being the Executive Committee (EXCOM) member of IEEE Japan Council, EXCOM member of IEEE Tokyo Section, Chair of IEEE Tokyo Section Young Professionals, and the Chair of IEEE Tokyo Section Educational Activities. He currently serves as an Editor for IEEE Communications Society Technology News (CTN).
