Description

The IEEE VTS Motor Vehicles Challenge 2019 : Energy Management of a dual-mode locomotive

The IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières, the FCLAB Research Federation, the FEMTO-ST Institute, the University of Lille, MEGEVH and SNCF are proud to launch the third  IEEE VTS Motor Vehicles Challenge 2019 .

Challenge Objective:

The third challenge of the IEEE VTS Motor Vehicle is focused on a dual-mode locomotive. The locomotive is powered by an overhead line through a catenary or on-board fuel cell with battery and supercapacitors.

The challenge is to propose an Energy Management Strategy (EMS) to reduce the hydrogen and electricity purchase costs, to reduce the hydrogen consumption and to increase the lifetime of energy storage systems.

The locomotive model and its control will be provided to the participants using Matlab-Simulink software. Both industrial and academic teams are welcomed to offer their own EMS.

The attendees will be invited to attend the 2019 IEEE VPPC.
