Description

The IEEE RAS Summer School in Germany (2026) aligns strongly with the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) mission because it addresses core enabling technologies for next-generation mobility: autonomy, AI-based decision-making, robust perception, and validation of intelligent systems operating in dynamic real-world environments.
While the event is organized by the IEEE RAS Germany Chapter, the technical scope is highly relevant to VTS members and priorities—particularly in areas such as:

  • Autonomous and intelligent vehicles: decision-making for autonomy (planning, learning, and LLM/NLP-enabled reasoning) directly supports the advancement of safe, scalable autonomy for mobility systems.
  • Vehicular perception and sensing: lectures and labs that connect AI decision-making with robotic/embodied platforms are transferable to ADAS and automated driving stacks, where perception and decision-making must be tightly coupled.
  • System validation and reliability: the program’s focus on practical implementation, lab work, and evaluation supports VTS interests in verification/validation, safety, and robustness of intelligent vehicular systems.
  • Bridging communities: the summer school is explicitly designed to bridge robotics and AI decision-making communities—an increasingly critical intersection for VTS as autonomy, connectivity, and intelligent mobility converge.
