IEEE Tech Ignite Summer School 2026
Event Menu
The IEEE Tech Ignite Summer School 2026 is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application by exposing participants to system-level thinking, prototyping, and emerging mobility solutions. It will bring together students and YPs from diverse engineering backgrounds to engage in collaborative learning, innovation challenges, and applied problem-solving aligned with smart transportation, connected systems, and sustainable mobility.
We have included a workshop and keynote in the preliminary program on “Design, Management and Charging Technologies for EV Battery Systems” and “Next-Generation Mobile Communications: 5G, 6G, and Intelligent Wireless Systems” respectively; which directly address electrified transportation, energy systems for mobility, and vehicular communications, core areas in VTS' fields of interest. Support from VTS will enable the delivery of high-quality, hands-on training that equips students and YPs with practical and theoretical knowledge in EV battery systems, charging infrastructure, and emerging wireless technologies that underpin connected and autonomous mobility.
These topics are particularly relevant in the African context, where there is a growing need for skilled talent to support the transition towards e-mobility, intelligent transport systems, and reliable communication infrastructure. Ultimately, VTS will contribute to building local capacity in critical technology areas, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, and enabling the development of solutions tailored to regional mobility and infrastructure challenges.
