Call for Submissions

Have you ever imagined how vehicular and mobility technologies can be brought to life through the eyes of a young innovator? Now’s your chance to tell that story.

We are excited to invite you to contribute a short story idea to the next chapter of Riko-chan, the beloved girl who solves everyday challenges using STEM – this time, through Vehicular Technology Society (VTS)-related innovations!

This initiative is inspired by the ongoing IEEE Women-in-Engineering (WIE) Manga Stories series.

Theme:

How can VTS technologies—connected vehicles, autonomous systems, drones, EVs, satellite comms, or smart infrastructure—help Riko-chan make the world a better place?

Think local or global. It could be helping a friend get to school safely, optimizing emergency response, or connecting rural communities. The key: make it engaging, realistic, and inspiring for younger audiences.

What to Submit:

  • Title
  • Author contact information: Name and Email
  • A short story outline (<500 words) featuring Riko-chan using VTS-relevant tech to solve a relatable problem
  • Optional: concept sketches or notes (no technical details required).

Deadline: 15 August 2025

Selected stories will be illustrated by professional manga artists and shared globally via IEEE WIE and VTS platforms. Authors will be acknowledged in the published work.
