Abstract: The introduction of Proximity Services (ProSe) and Public Safety in cellular networks relied on multiple enhancements to existing standards, including new functional elements and a Sidelink (SL) air interface for direct connectivity between devices. This talk will address the problem of neighbor discovery for Internet of Things (IoT) in cellular networks, exploiting direct radio links between ProSe-enabled users. The associated networking problems will be investigated along with potential enabling approaches for both ProSe and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications to sense the presence of neighboring devices in the vicinity.
Short Bio: Dr. Leila Nasraoui (Senior Member, IEEE) received her M.S. degree in Telecommunications and Ph.D. degree in Information and Communication Technologies from the Higher School of Communications (SUP'COM), University of Carthage, Tunisia, in 2010 and 2015, respectively. She is currently an Associate Professor of Telecommunications at the National School of Computer Sciences (ENSI), University of Manouba, Tunisia. She won various awards, including Pierre Simon de Laplace 2024, L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women In Science 2019, and was selected for the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for 2024/2025. She was also an International Professional Visiting Scholar at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. Her research interests focus on emerging network design and optimization with special emphasis on Proximity Services and Public Safety communications, IoT, UAV communication, and vehicular networks.
