Changfu Zou is Professor of Automatic Control. He has worked in battery management systems since 2012, with research focusing on fast charging/discharging optimization, AI-based diagnosis and prognosis, reconfigurable battery systems, thermal management, and scientific AI methods. Many of his works are conducted in collaboration with industry partners, such as Volvo, Scania, and ABB. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and was a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, from 2015 to 2016.
As PI, he has secured competitive research funding, including the Swedish Research Council Starting Grant, Swedish Research Council Project Grant, seven EU-funded projects under Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe, and four projects from the Swedish Energy Agency. His recognitions include IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Distinguished Lecturer, the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Best Vehicular Electronics Paper Award, the IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification Prize Paper Award, and selection to the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA)’s 100 List. He has also been appointed as a review expert for research grants by the European Commission (e.g., Horizon Europe CL5), NSF USA, Academy of Finland, Cariplo Foundation in Italy, and NSERC, among others. He currently serves as an associate editor for three IEEE journals (IEEE TVT, TTE, and VTM)
