Dr. Ibrahim Haskara is a Staff Researcher at General Motors R&D, leading next-generation propulsion controls innovation at the Energy and Propulsion Controls group. Before joining GM in 2005, he worked as a control research scientist at Visteon Corporation from 1999 to 2005. Dr. Haskara received a B.Sc. degree in electrical and electronics engineering and a B.Sc. degree in physics from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 1995, and the MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the Ohio State University in 1996 and 1999, respectively. He holds over 70 granted patents & trade secrets, published over 60 conference & journal papers and currently is an associate editor for Wiley, Advanced Controls for Applications. Dr. Haskara is the recipient of the 2010 GM R&D McCuen Award, the 2020 GM Boss Kettering Award, and the 2022 IEEE Control Systems Technology Award. His research interests include automotive modeling, control, and diagnostics, next-generation control technologies, vehicle propulsion systems, electric vehicle controls, EV energy and battery management, and AI/ML applications.
