Dr. Ibrahim Haskara is a Technical Fellow at General Motors (GM) Global Research and Development, where his work centers on leading innovation in next‑generation energy and propulsion controls. Prior to joining GM in 2005, he was a Control Research Scientist at Visteon Corporation from 1999 to 2005. Dr. Haskara received B.Sc. degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and in Physics from Bogazici University in 1995, and later earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1996 and 1999. He holds over 80 patents and trade secrets and has authored 65 peer‑reviewed publications. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology and a Senior Editor for Wiley’s Advanced Control for Applications. His contributions have been recognized with several major awards, including the 2010 GM R&D McCuen Award, the 2020 GM Boss Kettering Award, and the 2022 IEEE Control Systems Technology Award. His research interests span next‑generation propulsion control strategies, EV energy and battery management, AI/ML‑enhanced control methods, optimization, and calibration automation.
