This award recognizes and rewards outstanding young researchers who have made relevant contributions to the theoretical, experimental and operational aspects of space-air-ground-water integrated communication and networks. To do so, an outstanding young researcher will be selected each year.

- Nominees must be 40 years of age or younger at the time of the nomination deadline.
- Nominees must be an IEEE VTS member at the time of application.
- The main contributions must be focused on the field of space-air-ground-water integrated communication and networks or closely related topics. If not all the contributions are in the field of space-air-ground-water integrated communication and networks, the specific contributions to this field should be highlighted in the nomination.
- Previous award winners are not eligible.
- Eligibility and selection process shall comply with procedures and regulation established in IEEE and Society/Council governing documents, particularly with IEEE Policy 4.4 on Awards Limitations. Previous award winners are not eligible for substantially the same achievements (per IEEE Policies 4.4: An individual shall receive only one award for a given achievement, unless the significance merits a higher award, which may be given in the following year or thereafter.)
- Open calls for nominations will be solicited via email notifications; IEEE Channels; IEEE vTools.
- The nomination (self-nominations allowed) should be submitted by email as a single pdf file to the secretary of the IEEE VTS Technical Committee on SAGW Integrated Communication Systems, with the subject being “IEEE VTS Technical Committee on SAGW Integrated Communication Systems Outstanding Young Researcher Recognition Award”. The nomination should include:
- Name, IEEE member number, and contact details of the nominee
- Name and contact details of the nominator if any
- Proposed citation (limit 10 words)
- An executive summary of the nominee contributions (not to exceed 3 pages)
- Two signed recommendation letters, but not from the nominator if any
- Nominations should comply with IEEE Policies and restrictions on awards. Incidents of misconduct including, but not limited to, violations of IEEE's publication policies, will be strongly considered by the awards committee and may be grounds for denial of an award or leadership position.
