Propagation

The VTS Propagation Committee has a history of tending to the propagation prediction needs of the Land Mobile community. Its mission has evolved as the needs of the community have evolved.

In its initial phase of existence, it investigated and published propagation prediction algorithms for the 800 MHz band.

In its second phase, it worked jointly with a working group of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) to produce the Telecommunications Systems Bulletin now known as TSB-88A, which is applied chiefly to frequency coordination but also contains system design advice. The VTS Propagation Committee’s chief contributions to that document were to the sections on propagation prediction and on environmental noise.

In its current phase, the Committee is providing resources to the Land Mobile Radio propagation community.
