Propagation and Mobile Channel Theory Subcommittee

Description
Scope

The Propagation and Mobile Channel Theory subcommittee focuses on the underlying science—the physics and mathematics—of propagation and wireless channel modeling. This entails incorporating new physical discoveries (e.g., advances in modeling atmospheric effects from the ITU), the effects of new materials (e.g., metamaterials) on propagation, novel mathematical techniques for representing channel effects, and analytical techniques that can be used to improve simulations and measurements.

The purpose of this subcommittee is to assist the VTS Propagation Committee in the realization of activities within the subcommittee’s scope. This include: organizing technical meetings (conferences, workshops, special session and seminars), organizing special issues in periodicals published or co-sponsored by the VTS, organizing competitions, composing tutorial and survey papers on the subcomittee’s areas of interest, curating a recommended reads collection on propagation and mobile channel theory, and endorsing and nominating members for grade elevation or awards confered by the IEEE.

Focus Topics

Electromagnetic modeling for mobile radio
Integrated sensing and communication
Metamaterials and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces
Statistical characterization of non-stationary channels
